October Birchbox

Well, it’s that time again…

Kérastase Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide – Prime

There are very few hair oils that work for my fine hair, and this is actually one of them.  Most hair oils weigh down my hair and make it look overly oily.  I used a small amount of this oil and it helped smooth down my frizzy bits and gave my hair a nice sheen.  It smells very fresh, (without being perfume-y).  The scent does not really linger on the hair, either.  I like this oil, but it is not a must-have for me right now.

ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick

As a fan of  some of the other products from ModelCo, I was really excited to try this lipstick.  I received the shade ‘kitty’, which is a nude pink color with a bit of a shimmer to it.  The lipstick also has a light, fruity scent. The semi-matte formula goes on very sheer, but is true to its name; It does not move!  I find it difficult to find a truly moisturizing lipstick like this one.  I would liked to have sampled a more bold, pigmented shade, but ‘kitty’ is nice for every day.  It’s the kind of lipstick you can just throw in your purse and go!!!

Lord & Berry Paillettes Eye Pencil

I have sampled eyeliners from this line before and they are awesome.  They are very pigmented and smudgeable, however I am not a fan of the glitter version.  The glitter is quite chunky, and, to me, it looks like a liner from the 80’s.  This was a disappointing sample.

Ellovi Vanilla Butter

This butter melts into the skin effortlessly and has a delightfully warm vanilla scent.  The directions on the packaging say, “apply all over.”  They aren’t kidding, either.  It has only a few wholesome ingredients, so I don’t feel hesitant about putting it near my eyes or even on my lips.   The formula is quite greasy, so I reserve its use for overnight.

clariSEA Rapid Detox Charcoal Exfoliant: Face

I combined this with my usual cleanser and applied it to my t-zone.  I let it sit for a few seconds and gently scrubbed to remove.  The exfoliant was much more coarse than most others I have tried, and it left my skin a little bit red.  Since it is a bit rough, I reserve the use for only one time per week.  I noticed a difference in the texture of my skin, but not so much in the pore clarifying aspect.  It may take a few more uses.

Macadamia Professional Flawless Cleansing Conditioner

This was another product that I was anxious to sample.  There seems to be a lot of hype surrounding this brand, and this was my first time giving it a go.  The concept seemed a little bit strange; a shampoo and conditioner combo that is non-lathering with a mousse consistency.  Yeah, it’s a lot.  It is meant to be applied on wet hair, left on for 1-5 minutes, then rinsed clean.  I let it sit for about 1 minute (because I have rather fine, short hair).  The product smelled absolutely amazing, BUT it made my hair a greasy mess!  It took forever to dry and I ended up having to re-wash my hair with a clarifying shampoo to wash away the oil.  The cleansing conditioner is simply not a good match for my hair type.
