March Birchbox – Creativity

DSC_0413Birchbox has really been stepping up their game as of late. There was a little bit of a lull for a time, as far as the quality and excitement level of the boxes (as much as I hate to say it). As a Birchbox ace, I sometimes get an email invitation to choose one of my monthly samples. Now, you have to understand, these are first come, first serve, and it is a frantic race to secure my choice! This box is pretty exciting! Let’s get into it…

My custom sample choice was a great one this month. It is not a new product to me, but it is something I use all the time. It is the Its a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product and in a pretty big sample size at that. I love this stuff. It smells amazing and makes your hair feel so soft and actually reduces frizz and dry ends.  Retails on for $18.

I have sampled other products from Mireness before, but the Mirenesse Mattfinity Lip Rouge is a new discovery for me. I received the shade Sydney, a vibrant pink. It has a wonderful scent and an easy to maneuver applicator. It stayed all day, without drying out my lips, as many other matte products. Over a balm, it also works well as a sheer stain.  Retails on for $29.

This is the second box in a row that I have received a sample from Paula’s Choice. This time it is the Resist Moisture Renewal Oil Booster. If you told me a year ago that putting oil on my face would moisturize, but not make me look greasy, I would say you were crazy.   The sample size is adorable with a tiny dropper, which makes it easy to use and a little bit goes a long way. This is nice to use before bed so that when I wake up, my skin is moisturized and plumped.  Retails on for $35.

Ok, so, at first I definitely thought this was a nail polish. The packaging of the Jelly Pong Glow Getter Hilighter is that of a mini nail polish, complete with a little brush. This is a gel formula that is easily blended into the skin. I like to use this to fake a glow, on all of the high points of my face. The shade I received is Ibiza, which is a bronze gold shade that I will certainly use more once I have a bit of a tan this summer.  Retails on for $14.

The last sample in this month’s box is Michael Todd Moisture Lite Lotion Non-Oily Hydrating Moisturizer. Being unfortunately oily, I always look for oil control moisturizers, but a lot of times they clog up my pores and cause breakouts. The moisturizer is a thin gel consistency that has a fresh, light scent. Before it completely soaks in, it has a tacky feel, which acts as a great primer for foundation. For the most part, it has kept the oil under control.  Retails on for $29.
