I have been hearing so much about Glossier lately, so naturally, I hopped right on the bandwagon. I decided to make a small order to start, and see what it was all about. When I started shopping on the site, a few of the makeup items I wanted to try were out of stock, so I decided to go for a few skin care bits instead.
The first thing I chose was the Milky Jelly Cleanser. This is a daily cleanser that claims to dissolve away both dirt and makeup to balance skin’s chemistry. The Milky Jelly Cleanser has a few key features that make it truly unique. The main cleansing agent in it is the same as the cleansing agent in contact solution, which makes it gentle, yet still powerful, plus it doesn’t sting your eyes! There is also rosewater, which accounts for the subtle, fresh scent. Aquaxyl and vitamin B5 are included to lock in moisture. I use it without water to remove makeup, as recommended. The only thing is that it does not work at removing waterproof mascara, but I take care of that with a micellar water. When I wash my face in the morning, and do not have makeup to remove, I use it normally, a pump of the cleanser, and some warm water. It leaves the skin feeling completely clean and moisturized, and not at all tight.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am obsessed with lip balm. At any given moment I have a handful of them in my bag, my pockets, and my car. It is an addiction that I am always trying to kick, but never with much luck. It just seems like all of the balms I have been using are just addicting, and the more I use the more I need, and I mean NEED. Having soft smooth lips is important to me, to be comfortable, as well as to have a clean canvas for my many lipsticks. So naturally, the next thing I put in my cart was the Balm Dotcom. Balm Dotcom is a hydrating balm, which, I at first thought was just for lips. Boy was I wrong. It has about a million and one uses including treating any dry patches, from head to toe. I like to use it as a cuticle balm. It has a very thick waxy formula, which locks in moisture and acts as a protective barrier from the rest of the world. Castor seed oil, beeswax, lanolin, cupuacu fruit extract, rice bran, and rosemary leaf extracts are just some of the mighty ingredients that make Balm Dotcom work. I like to keep this on my bedside table and put on before bed, and there is miraculously still a layer of it on my lips when I wake up! It does not have a scent, but I am interested in trying the flavored versions!
The final piece to my Glossier skincare sampling is the Mega Greens Galaxy Pack face mask. This might be the thing that I am the most excited about. It is a cleansing mask, which claims to balance and condition pores, all the while calming inflammation using the all powerful kaolin clay. The mask is spread over moistened, cleansed skin and left to work its magic for twenty minutes. Get a load of what is in this powerful mask: it has leafy green phytonutrients to clean and protect, bitter orange peel to calm and gently exfoliate, creamy white clay for clearing out nasty oils and build-up, avocado oil and aloe moisturize, while a powerful blend of antioxidants protects skin. It applies as a buttery paste with small pieces of orange peel, which gently exfoliate. After the application, the grey mask dries almost clear! I rinse with warm water and with a little help from a muslin cloth, it comes right off leaving my skin feeling clean and moisturized. The more I use it the better results I am seeing.
I am really impressed with everything I have tried from Glossier and I can’t wait to get my hands on more. When I can justify it, I will be making another purchase!
